Shannice Anderson is a native Baltimorean and a graduate of Bowie State University that currently serves in the inaugural position of Community Engagement & Reentry Administrator for Maryland's Office of the Public Defender. She builds and maintains partnerships with agencies and organizations and provides reentry planning and post-release support to public defender clients. Shannice established the first referral based reentry project at "MOPD" that connects clients to a variety of social support services and resources at the various stages of the case (pre-trial and postconviction). She collaborates with attorneys, social workers, peers, advocates and external stakeholders to advance holistic representation statewide for justice impacted persons. Shannice currently advises the Maryland Justice Partnership’s reentry hub and serves on several reentry advisory boards as well as crisis and behavioral health commitees across the state of Maryland. Shannice also collaborates with the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation and the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to strengthen interagency partnerships that promote effective reentry programs, support recovery, improve resource coordination, and reduce recidivism.
