About me
Mr. Edward Soffe is a Program Coordinator within the Division of Urgent and Acute Care at the Maryland Department of Health - Behavioral Health Administration. Ed serves as the agency lead for the state 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, overseeing the statewide 988 system design, service quality, and multiple federal and state program budgets. He serves as the Project Director for the current SAMHSA 988 State and Territory Grant and will serve as the Project Director for this grant. Ed works closely with state leadership, behavioral health leaders, and stakeholders to continuously improve the state 988 system. He supervises a team of two full-time employees who are dedicated to 988.Prior to joining the Behavioral Health Administration, Ed was the Director of the Catoctin Summit Adolescent Program (Washington County Maryland Health Department). His background also includes serving as a Regional Social Work Supervisor (Maryland Department of Juvenile Services), a Social Work Supervisor (Washington County Maryland Department of Social Services), and the Director of the Shoemaker Center men’s program (Carroll County Maryland Health Department). Mr. Soffe graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Social Work in 1999 with a Master’s degree in Social Work and from Wake Forest University in 2005 with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1996 from Towson University and is currently licensed as a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical.
